This much-needed kitchen update transformed the dated look of a typical white-on-white, 80’s-style kitchen and created a space that now serves as the hub of this home.
Palmer’s Project Goals and Challenges
- The major challenge that we faced in this project was a horribly sagging floor that had a slope of more than three inches across the length of the kitchen.
- We also wanted to transform the appearance of this space without making major changes to the basic configuration of the room, which was functional and served the family’s needs.
- Structural improvements were made to the house to correct deficiencies in the original construction. The floor system was reinforced and braced from underneath to correct the slope and to accommodate the additional weight of the new granite countertops.
- New cabinets, appliances, granite countertops, a tile backsplash, under cabinet lighting and a new sink and faucet transformed the space and created an entirely new look while preserving the functional configuration.
