Updating a primary bathroom and guest bathroom
This former client had a primary bathroom as well as downstairs guest bathroom that were both outdated. We came in to make them more beautiful and functional spaces.
Primary Bathroom Remodel
- Goals and Challenges
-
- The exhaust fan was venting into the attic, which was a code violation.
- The floor in the primary bathroom was in poor condition due to improper framing in the original build.
- The existing bathtub/shower combination was outdated and cramped.
- The homeowner originally selected a wavy tile for the walls of the shower.
- Solutions
-
- We replaced and properly vented the new exhaust fan in the primary bathroom to the exterior.
- To properly redo the floor, we cut out the damaged sections and replaced them with new materials.
- That gave us a solid base from which to install a new tile floor.
- We added a walk-in shower with a corner bench and a tile niche.
- The wavy tile worked perfectly on the walls, where it added texture, depth, and character. However, it would have created an uneven surface for shampoo bottles and other accessories on the base of the niche, so we worked with the homeowner to install a traditional flat marble composite sill plate on horizontal surface and as a shower glass curb topper.
- We installed a new vanity with double inset sinks and faucets to refresh the space.
Guest Bathroom and Laundry Room Remodel
- Goals and Challenges
-
- The exhaust fan was venting into the attic, which was a code violation.
- The guest bath had an outdated appearance.
- The existing laundry room had a dated vinyl floor in need of updating.
- Solutions
-
- We replaced and properly vented a new exhaust fan in the guest bathroom.
- A new vanity, sink and faucet completed the space.
- We installed tile over the existing vinyl floor in the laundry room. We had completed a previous project for the homeowner, and had just enough tile left over from that to tile the laundry room floor, without a single extra tile to spare.
The result of all of these projects was a more updated and functional home that the homeowner loves returning to.
