Is your qualified professional remodeler connected?
Connections matter in life. You may have heard that when it comes to finding a new job, moving ahead in the workplace, getting your child into the right school, or possibly even finding a life partner, who you know matters. That’s because people who have similar connections often have a shared passion for doing things in the manner that seems best to them.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the same should hold true for the qualified professional remodeler you entrust with your home and your family’s dreams. Please note that professional certifications in and of themselves are not enough to ensure that the remodeler you are considering is right for your project. There is much more that goes into selecting the right professional, so much so that we wrote several chapters of our book – Remodeling and New Construction With No Regrets: How to Avoid the Most Common and Frustrating Mistakes Homeowners Make – on it! However, the presence of (or lack of) industry connections says quite a bit about a remodeler’s level of professionalism, willingness to stay current on industry standards, and potentially on their connections with tradespeople and other skilled professionals within the local construction community.
That’s just one reason we at Palmer Custom Builders are so proud to recently have been awarded a NARI Longevity Badge for being a member of NARI of Greater Charlotte for 20 years. (The badge is awarded in 5-year increments.) The National Association of the Remodeling Industry is a trade association for quality remodelers and adjacent trades, a resource for homeowners seeking ethical remodelers, and conducts philanthropic outreach to the Charlotte community. Among the many organizations NARI directly supports are: Dream on 3, ReBuilding Together, The ROC, Put Tools in Schools, She Built This City, The Charlotte Rescue Mission, and the Jim Harkey Memorial Fund.
We are also proud to be an accredited member of the Charlotte Better Business Bureau with an A+ BBB Rating. Please note that there may be other organizations that are specific to the professions and local areas of the contractors you are considering that might be appropriate for them.
The most important thing that we ask you to consider is that professional associations tend to reflect how seriously a contractor takes his or her job and the care with which they are likely to treat their clients. We have been serving Charlotte and surrounding areas since 1986 and have been a NARI member for over 23 years.
